Ford Mustang at the movies
Or ‘in the movies’ actually. I just found the IMCDB website aka Internet Movie Cars Database which allows you to search for movies and tv-series by entering a car’s make and model into the search field. So that’s what I did and then I sorted them out by importance/role with the most important one on top. Not that it’s hard to guess what movie that could be of course.
Like. And for the Bullitt fans, I have a special around Bullitt coming up in a couple of days. Stay tuned.
Bullitt canvas art
Carposters are cool in a boys bedroom, but when you get older you might want things to look a bit more artistic. That’s exactly what the Drivr team thought when they tipped us of this automotive canvas art. And yes, there’s Mustang in there ;)
Wouldn’t you want this 4 panel painting in your living room? I know I would. You can have it in several sizes. There are other Bullitt related paintings as well in case you’d like the idea but look for another image. It looks like they ship pretty much everywhere. I’m interested.
It’s happy time
When was the last time you saw a reverse spin as part of a car’s road test? A serious road test that is, and not any of the shenanigans the Top Gear team performs on a weekly basis :) I suppose it has been a while. In fact I cannot remember seeing it ever as part of a road test, but then again… only with the 1968 GT500KR it is happy time:

I heart Bullitt
My wish has always been to own a ‘65 Mustang one day. It was the model I always believed I wanted most. The original WordPress URL of this blog (before buying iblogmustang.com) even had the ‘65’ mention in it. I realized it’s not true though. Yes I really want that 1965 model one day if possible, but the one I care about most, the one I want first and foremost is the one we know as Bullitt. Or say a 1968 Mustang Fastback in Bullitt green… yes, that one :)
Isn’t that just the coolest car ever? Not convinced? Here are some more great photos of my dream car:
And in case you want one for yourself? Here are the do’s and don’ts for a ride like Frank’s.
Mustang of the week #9
Back in Europe this week for the series – Oslo (Norway) to be exact, with Arnfinn Hushovd’s answers on my 5 questions.
1. Which of your own photos in the Flickr group you like most?
This is the Mustang picture I am most happy with. This profile of the mustang makes it look its best. Also the depth of field, the light and the memory of a perfect summers day, and my old Mustang.
2. Is there a particular story around one of your Mustang photos that you would like to share? Something that happened when you took it? Or something related to the response you got on the photo so far?
The day I got to drive at an air strip. -I knew about a old airport in Froland, the southern part of Norway, and that it was now owed by a airplane model club. We cold not drive on it. My brother and I took our chances and there we met one man who gave us permission as long as we did not interfere with his model helicopter. We had a great time burning rubber from one end of the runway to the other in the burning summer heat until the radiator was boiling hot.
Great memories! We also filmed that day, and if you are interested you can se the resolute here.
3. Do you own a Mustang yourself? Which model? And would you like to have one if that’s not the case yet?
Yes I own a 1969 Sport Roof v4 302 and loving it! Tough now the car is in winter hibernation because of all the salt in the streets and the 50cm(19inch) of snow… I will have to way until April to drive it again. I have many plans for it, first big thing is to get it painted black or dark gray. I want to tone it down a bit. The car is screaming in that orange color!
4. Do you have a specific love for photographing Mustangs? Or is a coincidence? Or a passion for cars in general?
Its a new found interest for me to take photos of cars. Old American cars preferably but most of all my own Mustang. I never get tiered of taking photos of it and hopefully someday I will also shoot some video of it.
5. Which one of the other photos (in the Flickr group) are you jealous of as a photographer?
Its a great photo. High contrast, a small tilt and little color. Also the blurry background looks great. This kinda style I want to try to do more of.
Note: this is the second time we get this one selected, time to get Steve Kay on the series don’t you think? ;)
Thanks for sharing this with us Arnfinn, here’s my favorite out of your collection… great title too: “Beast in the dark”.
McQueen says yes to Bullitt replica
Or the McQueen family to be correct. Autoblog had the following news a couple of days ago:
“Fans of the car and McQueen are one step closer to realizing this dream thanks to the McQueen estate, which has authorized the building of official replica Bullit Mustangs in honor of the film’s 40th anniversary. Ownership of the Bullit name is shared by the McQueen family and Warner Bros., …”
Autoblog also mentions they’re not sure who will actually build the car, but thinking you will actually be able to buy this classic… man, I know what I want for Christmas now. Although, it must be said (and you know I’m really a fan of the 1965-1968 Mustangs) that new Bullitt looks incredible as well. They would actually both do well in my garage :)
Mapping Bullitt
Like you would ever need another reason to watch the coolest car chase of all times yet again right? Someone just mapped the video of the car chase scene onto Google Maps. From the creator:
“I’m a huge fan of ‘the king of cool’ and of all movie car-chase scenes. I thought it would be great to mashup famous chases with their GPS tracks. Keep in mind some of the chases cut from one place to another…so I tried to be as accurate as possible.”

Eleanor The Second?
“Eleanor has competition with the Obsidian SG-1” titled Jalopnik recently. Although the Obsidian is pretty sure a piece of art when talking about custom cars, Eleanor was – through the movie of course – a lot more of a symbol than just a custom car. Or something :) Anyway what do you think of the Obsidian SG-1 and how it compares to Eleanor? Let me know in the comments.

Bullitt Mustang
I’m really a classic Mustang guy, you know the ’65 to ’69 models, those are just fantastic. After that I always found it went downhill, with an absolute low with especially the 3rd and 4th generation of Mustangs. Luckily, Ford realized that (it just took some time) and the 5th generation Mustang is again a car worth the Mustang label. Something I said before and which we all know anyway I guess.
Still, it’s the classic Mustang that I’ve started this blog for, that’s the one I want. Thinking of myself driving a Bullitt-like Mustang one day, makes my day ;) The Mustang Bullitt at the other hand is also a great example of Ford recognizing it’s Mustang roots again and doing something great with it.
Yesterday I saw this video on the Mustang Bullitt and like I mentioned a little in my earlier post I got to admit that again Ford managed to build a mean machine here. But not only that, what amazed me most while watching was the fact that they tuned the exhaust for instance to mimic the sound in the original Bullitt movie. It’s a small thing, but I found it way too cool.
And all of this for $31.000 (and up of course) that’s not bad at all. Although we probably can’t get it in Europe, that’s only little more than €21.000 today! Well, my birthday is coming up, so if you haven’t figured out yet what you will send me, this Mustang Bullitt sounds like a good idea :)
Winding Road
A friend (and fellow car enthusiast) sent me a link to an article in the online magazine Winding Road. The article was a review of the new Ford Mustang Bullitt, on sale now at your Ford dealer (in the US that is).
As a result I have to email him back ‘thanks but not thanks’. It’s a great article about a great car and now it just looks like I don’t only have to get myself the classic Bullitt Mustang, but also the new one. Like if my problems weren’t big enough already to get just one Mustang :)
The good part about it is that this free online Winding Road magazine is pretty nice and something other car enthusiast will definitely agree on. So if you hadn’t heard about it yet, take a look now.
