My wish has always been to own a ‘65 Mustang one day. It was the model I always believed I wanted most. The original WordPress URL of this blog (before buying iblogmustang.com) even had the ‘65’ mention in it. I realized it’s not true though. Yes I really want that 1965 model one day if possible, but the one I care about most, the one I want first and foremost is the one we know as Bullitt. Or say a 1968 Mustang Fastback in Bullitt green… yes, that one :)

Just like Jalopnik mentioned, it was pretty amazing to see Porsche put its Panamera on the 94th floor of the Shanghai World Financial Center. Only to find out that Ford did something similar 44 years earlier…

Stunning view don’t you think? It wasn’t too easy to get it up there and no, it wasn’t by using a helicopter or anything:

“In October 1965, with the Ford Mustang the hottest-selling car in America, the general manager of the Empire State Building had a great idea – to display a Ford Mustang on the 86th floor observation deck of the iconic Manhattan landmark.

Officials at Ford agreed and dispatched a crew to take was careful measurements of the skyscraper’s doors, hallways and elevators. They determined that a white convertible Mustang could be disassembled into four main sections and transported – along with many smaller pieces – up to the building’s 86th floor in elevators to be reassembled.”

Collected some nice classic Mustang ads again so will be posting them all during next week – AdClassix week starting Monday – similar to what I did last October for those who remember.

About 6 months ago I wrote about a pair of special Mustangs that were up for auction. Just a couple of days ago Jalopnik posted another story about these cars… although they do look a bit different now: even uglier than before is a better way of putting it I guess. The first photo is from the post I did several months ago, the second on of the new story on Jalopnik.

I’m not totally sure if those are the same cars (maybe they were modified over time, maybe someone love the original so much they wanted the same, …) but they sure do look tacky. Anybody know the real story behind both cars?
